KPL Gives Back

Inaugural Southside Day at the Lake

The inaugural Southside at The Lake Labor Day celebration, organized by Atlanta rapper Yung Joc and others, provided 1,000 Chromebooks to children in need, marking the largest single laptop donation at the event. Funded by Quality Control Music CEO Pierre “P” Thomas and the Ludacris Foundation, the giveaway aimed to support local families, like Latoya Miller, who expressed gratitude for the assistance. Notable figures like Jermaine Dupri encouraged kids to utilize the laptops for personal growth. The event also featured music, food, and a surprise land giveaway by the Acre Boyzz, who promote land ownership within the Black community. Joc and his team plan to make the event an annual tradition.

How Important is Electronics Recycling?

By choosing to recycle your computers and devices responsibly, you are ensuring that harmful chemicals like mercury do not harm the environment we live in. Basically if we allow computers and electronic devices to be dumped into landfills, these harmful chemicals start spilling into soil and water which creates a health hazard to all of us. E-waste recycling reduces the danger of this process by safely and professionally extracting precious metals to be reused. Aside from the benefits environmentally, E-waste recycling is important for securing personal data. If you throw your computer or cell phone in the garbage you run the risk of having a data breach. There are recycling facilities located in Atlanta and Jonesboro area that provide services which include HIPAA-compliant computer recycling for businesses that have sensitive customer data.

Impacting Our Environment

The main reason computer recycling is effective is because of its positive impact on our environment. Our cell phones, laptops and tablets contain precious metals like gold, silver as well as copper. When we extract these metals from our unwanted or outdated devices, we no longer need to resort to mining which is a huge problem globally. Several benefits including reducing greenhouse gas emissions and conserving natural resources are key factors in the growing industry of electronic recycling.

Furthermore IT asset recycling services in Jonesboro help to prevent local landfills from being filled up with electronic waste. More small businesses are becoming aware and are choosing to partner with free computer recycling near me options in order to stay compliant.

Both small and large businesses require skilled professionals to disassemble, separate and process electronic equipment properly. There is also an increase in the demand for secure data destruction services, which has led to key positions in the cyber field.

Many small businesses like ours provide free pickup services if there are lots of items involved. Performing a data backup is essential to ensure that you will retain necessary data before erasing or wiping. Data (hard drive) shredding is also a very secure way to protect your private information. In most cases if a device is still operational, you may want to consider donating it so that its life can be extended and helpful to someone who can use it.
